The Personal Touch

Home

It's more than four walls and a roof. It's warmth, it's security, it's family. That's something the Nutter family has always understood. It's why so many American families over the past half-century have found that the best path to home ownership leads under our roof. It's why we sum up our approach to mortgage lending in three simple words: "Come on home."

Like so many American families - and America itself - we started small, but we've grown steadily and strong, and we did so by staying true to our values and staying in touch with our roots.

At James B. Nutter & Company, we are proud to be pioneers in the mortgage lending industry. We're proud that we led the way with an open-door policy of saying "Come on home" to families from all backgrounds and walks of life. We're proud to have pioneered the True No-Cost Refinancing Loan in 1985. We're proud to be a company that maintains lifelong relationships with customers. We're proud to still be a family-owned, family-run company even after five decades of growth that has made us one of the largest private mortgage banking firms in the U.S.

We believe that our commitment to "personal touch" customer service, combined with our low rates and our refusal to charge expensive and needless "junk fees," has driven our growth. Our experienced staff has the knowledge and experience to offer a variety of government-supported and private mortgage loan options, and help you find the best fit for your family.

Community

Our commitment to community is not just easy to see. We also like to think it's pleasant to look at.

The neighborhood surrounding our national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., has been nicknamed "Nutterville" by the appreciative neighbors who enjoy strolling amid the restored older homes, painted in bright colors, and the lush flower gardens that surround them. Nutter Company loans helped restore many of these historic homes. Others, the company bought and converted to business offices inside while maintaining the homey, residential look and feel on the outside. It wasn't the most efficient business decision, but we wouldn't have done it any other way, because we understand what home really means.

As a young man, our company founder, James B. Nutter Sr., got to know former President Harry S. Truman. Truman, who could have lived anywhere, came home to his modest home in Independence, Mo. after leaving the White House and reconnected with his hometown roots.

That example of plain-spoken, homespun Midwestern values made a big impression on our founder as he built his mortgage business. He stayed true to these roots and passed them on to his son, James B. Nutter Jr., who now serves as president of James B. Nutter & Company. Father and son have run their business like an extended family, and to this day, the entire Nutter Co. "family" lives by those values. Our company is active in civic and community affairs in our home town, with a special emphasis on favored causes such as Children's Mercy Hospital (which to us says "family"); Habitat for Humanity (which is all about "home"); and the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library (which keeps us in touch with our roots.)

Give us a call and we'll show you what we mean when we say "Come on home to James B. Nutter and Co."
